Many foreigners confuse North and South Korea. However, these two countries are totally different, and everything from ideology to economic size is different.

Companies like 'SAMSUNG' and 'LG' that many foreigners know are all South Korean companies, and 'Gangnam' for travel is also one of the 'hot spot' in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.

"The difference between North Korea and South Korea"

About North Korea

North Korea is a socialist country and very closed. Although foreigners are allowed to travel, they must undergo preliminary inspection, and may be detained if they carry prohibited items or take unauthorized photos when leaving the country.

In fact, the American Otto Warmbier was detained in North Korea for 17 months, then sent to the United States as a vegetative, and eventually died.

Even today, in the 21st century, in North Korea, 40% of the population(10 million people), are hungry. Every year, 1.36 million tons of food is scarce and suffering from famine.

So when South korans hear the question that "Are you from North Korea??" South korean may be embarrassed and angry.

About South Korea

left : Gangnam, right : BTS

All Korea you think of is South Korea. Both'Gangnam Style(강남스타일)' and 'BTS (방탄소년단)' are songs and singers from South Korea.

Of course, the members of BTS are also from South Korea ^^

Why did South Korea and North Korea separate?

In 1945, when Korea became independent from Japan, the ideology of Korea was divided into two.

One was socialism and one was democracy. So one country is divided into two

Then In 1950, war broke out between the two countries.

In such a divided situation, the US and the Soviet Union divided Korea to rule.
